Textile Designer Job in Devon

The Gro Company (http://gro.co.uk and www.gro-store.co.uk) is looking for an experienced textile …

The Gro Company (http://gro.co.uk and www.gro-store.co.uk) is looking for an experienced textile designer. Someone with creative product ideas who can really add value to our process and be responsible for the design element of our business. The Gro Company is a global nursery brand, known and loved for our innovative and award winning sleep solutions for babies and young children. We create innovative, stylish and extremely high quality products that are fantastic value too. Our original product, the multi-award winning Grobag, is the No1 baby sleep bag brand in The UK and Australia changing the way babies are put to bed. Now equally famous is the rest of our innovative range such as the Gro-clock - one now sells every three minutes around the world!

As well as responsibility for creating appealing, attractive, relevant fashion designs for our Grobags, swaddles and bedding ranges, the successful candidate would be customer-facing and be expected to be on the lookout for new products and ideas for the Gro Company's portfolio of products. They would need to sell their work to the business and external customers such as retail buyers, and have sound design management skills to manage the design process, including trend work and working with our China office to ensure quality, cost and deadline targets are met.

We are looking for someone to start this year.  All responses to: Catherine Morris, Brand Director, THE GRO COMPANY, EXETER, DEVON / catherine.morris@gro.co.uk / 0844 557 2987.

Graphic Designer Job in Newton Abbot

Pirongs are looking for an ambitious middle-weight designer who would like to make their mark on a …

Pirongs are looking for an ambitious middle-weight designer who would like to make their mark on a well-respected brand and products. We are on an exciting journey and need an inspirational creative and detail obsessive designer with solid 3 to 5 years commercial creative design for print experience to take complete responsibility for all aspects of design at Pirongs to help us on our way.

For the right person, able to fully immerse themselves in this job, we are offering £25-30,000 for a year's contract. There will be an initial 3 month trial contract (payable at £6250 - £7,500). If all goes well, then we will enter into a one-year contract, which is open to renewal on an annual basis if all parties are happy.

Pirongs is a successful small family business, publishing academic year diaries and planners. We sell mainly to schools and on a mail order/home shopping basis and have been trading since the late 1950's.

For many years we have managed on our own, design-wise, slightly erratically, but we have muddled through. We have never had consistent in-house professional quality design. We intend to grow, both in size and in the variety of products we offer, so last year, as part of an expansion and investment program, we underwent a very satisfactory rebranding process. Its result was a response to who we are and where we want to go and has provided a clear design direction. We are happy with this and the designer would need to continue with this direction.

Being a transitional period for us now, with new products and marketing strategies, we need someone to oversee the roll out of our new brand and to move it forward. We feel that it is vital to have the day-to-day involvement and oversight of an experienced professional.

The successful applicant will need to be thorough, self-motivated and proactive in seeking out what needs to be done. Commercial experience is necessary as the role will include costing and dealing with suppliers and other companies.

A professional degree of ability with design software is a must including Indesign (or QuarkXpress), Illustrator, Photoshop. We will expect the successful applicant to work exclusively for Pirongs for the duration of their employment. Whether they will be based at the premises in Newton Abbot or at their own studio/office is up for discussion but there definitely needs to be some time spent each week at Newton Abbot.

We are looking for someone to start by mid-October, if possible. All responses to: Mr Robin Pirongs, Joint Managing Director, PIRONGS LTD, NEWTON ABBOT, DEVON /  robin@pirongs.co.uk / 01626 352655.
